DYBA members,
It is hard to believe that registration is upon us for the 2010 Baseball season. We haven’t even had our first snowfall this year.
The Baseball Committee is already hard at work preparing for another season(s) for the kids of Deerfield to enjoy the great game of Baseball. DYBA is comprised of 100% volunteers that handle all administrative aspects of our organization. We rely on all of our volunteers, members and players to contribute in a positive manner to be successful each year.
This upcoming summer, we will celebrate DYBA’s 60th season providing baseball/softball in Deerfield. The Baseball Committee is proud to announce our “Head Up” program for the 2010 campaign. Our goal is to have all of our players, coaches, volunteers, and umpires approach the game with a “Head Up” attitude. To stay positive, work hard, attain skills, learn lessons and manage individual expectations within the game of baseball and the team environment. DYBA believes these valuable lessons carry over to school, work, family, friendships and life in a generally positive manner.
DYBA is looking for volunteers to manage and coach with these values in mind. In the past, our organization has been very fortunate; DYBA has enjoyed the commitment of many wonderful people that have all contributed to our success over the years. However, every year we have a few individuals that come out to the fields with a different agenda. Overly competitive and self-promoting individuals do not foster the atmosphere we strive to achieve. Behavioral issues in the past can preclude individuals from being assigned to a team next year or in the future years. The use of sarcasm, anger, intimidation or profanity in dealing with players, opponents, opposing coaches or umpires is unacceptable. As a private organization, it is within our right (and responsibility) to monitor who is on the fields with our players. Negative or detrimental conduct from any volunteer, adult or player may result in suspension or removal from the league. The DYBA Board has added these guidelines to our organization’s by-laws. Hence, if you are interested in providing all the players on your team a positive, fun, learning experience…….please sign up to coach today. If that does not sound like your objectives or goal, spare everyone the potential problems, and watch the games from behind the fence.
Join us and be a part of attaining our goal of worthwhile experiences for the kids in our community, help us teach them to stay positive and play with their “Head Up”!
If the adults maintain the proper, positive attitude and lead by example……..it stands to reason the players will follow and benefit from the examples set for them. All support in this regard is both respected and appreciated.
Looking forward to another great year for the kids of Deerfield and DYBA!
Respectfully,
Steve Taub
