Welcome to Moorpark Little League 2012
Welcome to another fantastic year of Moorpark baseball! Registration for the 2012 Spring Season is now open. Registration includes a 20 game regular season (Farm Division and higher), a hat, a jersey and a picture packet. I strongly encourage you to register on-line by visiting our website (www.moorparkll.com) and following the registration link at the top of the welcome page. You can also pickup registration packets at Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Dugout Sports Grill. Also, refer to our website regularly for information on our special live registration events.
Those that are familiar with our league know that we have one of the premier Little League facilities in Southern California. The Board of Directors is committed to keeping this reputation and understands the time and effort necessary to make this happen. As a 100% volunteer Board, we need the same level of commitment from our families that utilize the facility. The City of Moorpark and the Moorpark Unified School District allow us the privilege to use their fields with no lease. This is done with the understanding that we provide all upkeep necessary to ensure the facilities are safe and well maintained. We ask for your continued support and volunteer efforts to help us keep our facilities pristine and the costs associated with doing so to a minimum.
As a volunteer organization, we need assistance from all families to ensure that everyone has a positive experience and that our players are safe, well-instructed and getting the most out of the quality program we offer. Last year we provided an incentive to encourage volunteerism in an area that has needed it the most...UMPIRING. This year we will continue our program of offering a $100 rebate on registration fees following required training and 10 “plate” assignments throughout the season. Details on this program are available on our website.
For the 2012 season, we will operate without the typical “snack bar buyout” that has been requested for those not interested in working the snack bar during the season. With close to 50 teams that average 2 games per week at our facility, the scheduling of snack bar volunteers is a full time job. This year each team will be required to provide snack bar volunteer coverage for one, 3-hour shift on a Saturday. Information on this will be provided to the Team Parent for team discussion prior to the season opening.
Please note that Registration will close on January 19, 2012. After that date, we cannot guarantee placement on a team, but we will form a waiting list and do our best to accommodate all playing requests. Our goal is to have our program available to all those that want to play. With that in mind, we understand that registration fees may present a financial hardship in these economic times. A new procedure is in place that will allow those facing financial hardship to request a full or partial scholarship based on provided financial documentation. These scholarships are limited and will be issued based on documented financial need of those who apply. Information on this program is available via email request to registrar@moorparkll.com. All scholarship requests must be completed prior to January 19, 2012 for consideration.
As always, we need top quality managers to instruct and guide our teams. No single person has as much impact on the experience for both the player and parents as the manager. If you are interested in teaching teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship, managing a team can be a very rewarding experience. Manager applications will be available on our website and must be received by 12/16/11.
MPLL is open to players age 5-14. Player evaluations/ tryouts are mandatory for all players in the Farm division and above. Every player must attend ONE of the scheduled tryout sessions. Players in T-Ball & Coach Pitch divisions will be placed on a team and contacted by a coach by mid-February. Tryouts are scheduled for Jan 21st and 22nd. with an alternate date of Jan 28th in the event of rain. Check our website or hotline for times and updates.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact any Board Member for assistance. Contact information can be obtained on our website at www.moorparkll.com
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we look forward to having you join us and making the 2012 season a memorable experience for our players and families.
