2012 MCAL LEAGUES OVERVIEW
An adult basketball league consisting of competitive teams, playing for FUN, while competing for a league title. Teams may have as few as 8 players on your roster and as many as 18. Two referees will officiate each game, with their decision being final. Games will continue for a min. of 10 weeks with a semi-final and a final to be held at the end of regulation play. Awards for the first and second place finishers will be provided! LEAGUE ENTRANCE FEE IS $675, which covers gym time, league costs, scorekeeper and LIABILITY INSURANCE coverage only, plus a Refundable Forfeit Bond of $70. Referee fees, $35 per team per game, will collected prior to the start of each game.
RULES and REGULATIONS
*Each team must wear the same color shirt with a number on the back. League preference is a T-shirt with team name on front and number on back. No Uniform, NO PLAY!
*Two twenty minute running time halves, with the last 2 minutes of each half having the clock stopped for normal clock stoppages and a 3 minute intermission between halves. Time will continue to run when there is a 20 point deficit.
*Each team will be allowed 2 time outs for the 1st half and 3 times out for the 2nd half. Unused time outs are LOST. The league will provide a time clock, score board, score book, time keeper / scorekeeper and assign referees..
*Each player will be allowed 5 personal fouls before fouling out (player is out of game upon committing 5th foul). The one-in-one situation will occur after the team commits its 7th foul of the half and automatic 2 shots after the 10th team foul.
*Jump ball only at the start of each game. Possession changes thereafter.
*Forfeit time is 10 minutes past the official start time, however, a team can start the game with 4 players.
*Team rosters will be considered final upon the start of the 4th game of the season. ANY player to be considered eligible for the playoffs must have played in a minimum of 50% of regular season games.
*Overtime will consist of a 2 minute period, normal stop time, with each team being awarded an additional time out.
*Referees are to be paid $35 each before the start of each contest. In the event of only 1 referee showing up for the game, his payment will be $60. In the event of a forfeit, the forfeiting team will be responsible for paying BOTH referees by the time of their next scheduled. In the event that the teams DOES NOT pay for the game missed, they WILL NOT be permitted to continue play.
*For MCAL Rule clarification only, during foul shots, players must remain on the line until the ball is released from the shooters hand. Three opposing players and two same team players will be permitted in the foul key area, with the first block left empty. No team will have the “Block” advantage.
* All players, receiving a Technical foul, MUST BE REPLACED from play, for a minimum of one stoppage of play.
*There is NO DUNKING PERMITTED. A player/team which slams or dunks a basket will be called for a technical foul, AND NO BASKET allowed. A team that commits a second violation will forfeit the match, and a loss would be given to the team in violation, regardless of score at the time of the violation. Any Player found hanging on the rim, will be given a technical foul.
* There will be a STRICK no Cursing rule. Any cursing will result in a technical foul. Two offenses to same player will result in an ejection.
*ANY player who is ejected from the gymnasium for arguing with the referee or another player will be automatically suspended for his/her teams NEXT game.
REMEMBER, this league is for our enjoyment. We MUST remember that we all go to work the next day... We must all play for what the original goal is to have FUN!
