USTA Jr. Team Tennis is the largest youth tennis league in the country, helping girls and boys ages 5 to 18 get in the game, get on the court, and have a good time.
USTA Jr. Team Tennis brings kids together in teams to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other teams. It promotes social skills and important values by fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity, as well as individual self-growth. Also, it’s a fun environment for kids in which they learn that succeeding is really more about how they play the game – win or lose.
The emphasis is on skill development, fun, teamwork and friendly competition, all with the possibility of advancing to the national championship. Tennis is a sport you can play for life and Jr. Team Tennis lays the foundation for a lasting relationship.
WHO CAN PLAY?
USTA Jr. Team Tennis is for girls and boys ages 5 to 18 of all abilities and experience. Whether your child has been playing for years, or has never held a racquet, there's a spot on the team for them.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
SCTA uses the Quickstart format, a scaled down form of match play, for beginners! SCTA leagues are typically 3 weeks long and include Tuesday and Thursday afternoon practices and Saturday afternoon matches at the Antelope Tennis Center, 7900 Falcon View Drive, 95843.
Players have the opportunity to participate in both singles and doubles play throughout the season. The USTA Jr. Team Tennis season culminates in a national championship for the 14 & under and 18& under, Intermediate and Advanced divisions. There is nothing like the team spirit when kids are playing USTA Jr. Team Tennis!
HOW COMPETITIVE IS IT?
Whether your child wants to compete on a national level or simply wants to learn a new sport and make friends, Jr. Team Tennis can take them there. The focus is on enjoying the exhilaration of playing and the development of skills that make playing fun. It's up to each player to decide how far they want to go.
