5-on-5 Pick-up Basketball League - Summer 2012
The Windy City Sports Academy coaching staff monitors the action, offers tips, and officiates the games. Teams are divided evenly into teams each week with a maximum of 8 players for round robin style game play. Equal playing time is enforced. This league is designed to keep your kids playing after the session while having fun on the court with their friends. Teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized. Boys and Girls (Ages 8-17)
ADVANCED BASKETBALL SKILLS-Summer 2012
This fast-paced, skill-based class pushes players
to compete at their highest levels, focusing on court conceptions and spacing, how to utilize skill maneuvers and how to properly dissect offensive and defensive sets. Participants receive one-on-one fine tuning of shooting mechanics, dribbling technique, and body control. While there is not a prerequisite to attend this class, participants should have extensive exposure to the game and be willing to participate in a fast-pace, full court experience. Boys and Girls (Ages 13-16).
This class features a new sport each week. Some of the sports taught and played include soccer, kickball, baseball, tennis and basketball. Children have the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop confidence in games they have played in previous classes. Boys and Girls (Ages 5-9).
BASKETBALL 101-Summer 2012
The perfect class for young athletes who are looking to move beyond basic instruction and ready to more thoroughly understand the game. Players enhance their skills by learning more detailed offensive points of the game such as setting screens and moving without the ball. Players are also introduced to defensive aspects of the game including proper defensive stance and concepts such as zone and man to man defense. All instruction is game/drill oriented with scrimmages played every day. Boys and Girls (Ages 6-9).

Athletes develop existing skills with the focus on setting and achieving personal goals. Classes are conducted with various guard/post-work to develop passing, shooting and dribbling in game situations. Defensive instruction includes man to man defense, denying the ball, help-line and boxing out. Full court scrimmages are played every day along with specialized instruction. Boys and Girls (Ages 9-12).
GIRLS MULTI-SPORT CLINIC-Summer 2012
This clinic features basketball, softball, volleyball and soccer. Girls have the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop confidence in each of the sports.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CLINIC-Summer 2012
This clinic teaches basic and intermediate skills of volleyball including techniques and game strategies. Participants have the opportunity to learn and play each position. Proper setting, bumping and serving techniques are stressed. Games and scrimmages are played each week.
INDOOR FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE-Summer 2011
The Indoor Flag Football league provides participants with knowledge of basic offensive and defensive football strategy. Each participant learns the basics of the game with the opportunity to put their skills and knowledge to use in a positive competitive environment. The first two weeks consist of practice sessions in which participants learn pass patterns, formations, offensive plays, defensive sets and coverage schemes. After the initial two weeks of practice, teams are assigned. Through the course of the season, each team plays games against other evenly matched teams. Each team is coached by a member of the Sports Academy staff, teaching players about the game throughout the season. The Indoor Flag Football League provides an excellent opportunity for youngsters interested in pursuing competitive outdoor football to learn the skills of the game. Boys and Girls (Ages 8 – 12).
INDOOR FLOOR HOCKEY LEAGUE-Summer 2012
Hockey fundamentals as well as game strategy, teamwork, sportsmanship and safety are stressed each week. Participants are required to have the following equipment: hockey stick, helmet, shin guards & gloves. Each team member receives a team t-shirt. Tournament trophies are awarded at the conclusion of the season. Come out and have some fun! Boys and Girls.
LIL’ DRIBBLERS-Summer 2012
Children are introduced to the game of basketball in a safe, fun and exciting environment. Our curriculum uses age appropriate activities and games specifically designed to increase balance, body awareness, motor skills and hand eye coordination. These factors are important in the overall development of children. The Lil’ Dribblers program includes exclusively designed equipment tailored to enhance the basketball experience for each participant. The program challenges children to develop new cognitive, physical and social skills. In addition each child will experience social interaction with both children and adults in a fun environment. As children progress through the program, they acquire listening skills and have a fun introduction to following directions. These skills will benefit your child on the court, in the classroom but most importantly throughout their life! Boys and Girls (Ages 2-6).
PEE WEE SOCCER-Summer 2012
Let your child’s early soccer experience be a great one. The younger player develops not only their soccer skills but also gains confidence, coordination, motor skills and communication. The program uses age-appropriate drills and exercises to teach players kicking, ball control, dribbling, shooting and more. Each class is designed to develop endurance, promote good sportsmanship and teamwork. Boys and Girls (Ages 3-6).
SOCCER SKILLS CLINIC 101-Summer 2012
Players are introduced to the fundamentals of soccer tactics such as passing the ball, offensive moves, defensive moves and keeping the ball and taking the ball away from the opposing team. Players learn to score and prevent goals. Physical endurance and fitness are emphasized while touching the ball. At this age the focus starts to change from simple games to organized, tactical, competitive games. Boys and Girls (Ages 6-9).
SOCCER SKILLS CLINIC 202-Summer 2012
Participants engage in an up tempo game-like atmosphere where they develop team play and advanced footwork. Games will be held at the end of every class with a focus on control, possession, and spacing. Players will be introduced to advanced fundamentals and skill maneuvers that will help enhance their overall game. Boys and Girls (Ages 9-13).

Children are introduced to the fundamentals of sports such as soccer, t-ball, basketball, tennis and other sports and group games. The goal is to provide the opportunity for each child to develop motor skills an d nurture his/her growth socially and emotionally through teamwork and good sportsmanship. Boys and Girls (Ages 3-5).

This camp focuses on improving the basic skills of individual play and enhancing team play abilities. Dribbling, passing, rebounding and shooting along with individual and team defense are areas developed throughout the camp. Campers are divided into teaching groups based on age, size and ability.

Using a lower basket, campers are introduced to the basics of basketball. Development of early skills such as proper ball-handling, passing and shooting are combined with the basic knowledge of the rules of the game and principles of teamwork and sportsmanship.

The camp features a variety of sports including Soccer, Baseball, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, Floor Hockey and more. In addition, a wide range of group games are played. Instruction focuses on basic fundamentals and good sportsmanship. Boys and Girls (Ages 7-14).

Children ages 2 to 16 are able to reap the benefits of the Windy City Fieldhouse through its fantastic youth program - the Windy City Sports Academy. Unlike other youth programs, the Sports Academy enables children to strengthen their skills in a no pressure environment that is both structured and safe. This after-school and weekend program focuses on learning rather than winning - allowing children to develop sports skills in a safe, fun and encouraging environment. Not only are children able to participate in classes, but also boys and girls are given the opportunity to take part in leagues and tournaments.
In addition, the program routinely holds one-day camps on weekdays when children do not have school. The Sports Academy is a popular program amongst Chicago families, and classes fill quickly.
