Registration for the Spring 2012 Season is Open
Important Information about the upcoming Spring Soccer Season!
1. Registration for the Spring season is now open. Please go to www.hoosickfallssoccer.org to register.
* If you are interested in coaching, the club is offering to waive the registration fee for your child. The deadline to commit to teams for the Spring Travel League is January 1st. To insure we can field a team in every division PLEASE register early.
2. As a volunteer run club we rely on the generosity of our members. We are in desperate need of Board Members. The Board is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of the Club as well as responding to the needs of our members. If you are interested in becoming a Board Member for the 2011 season, please contact Steve Hinchliffe @ 518-686-9505. Expectations of our board members include responsibility for one of our eight committees and attendance at six board meetings, annually.
3. The Club prides itself on the lowest registration fees in the area. We have been able to maintain our registration fees through the kindness of volunteer efforts of the friends and families of our players. However, in the last few seasons, it has become more difficult to find the volunteers we require to maintain the facility and coaching programs. We are now forced to pay people to stripe the fields, mow the grass, and run the concession stand. Since 2005, we have also hired a full-time club trainer who has helped train both players and coaches. Additiionally, we are also burdened with the cost of insurance and maintenance that is associated with a wonderful complex of this size. In order to balance our budget, we are forced to raise our registration fees by $10. For those who coach a team, we are waiving the registration fees. We also have a limited number of volunteer positions that can be applied for. These positions will receive a reduction in registration fees as well. Finally we have two very generous organizations that offer scholarships to families in need.
Thank you for your continued support.
PLEASE REGISTER EARLY!
Please read the descriptions below to see if you would best be suited for our Travel Program or Rec./In-House Program:
About the HOOSICK FALLS REC/In-House SOCCER PROGRAM
The Rec/In-House program is offered in the Spring and Fall and is open to children registered in grades pre-k through third grade. Co-ed teams are formed with a balance based on experience, gender, and maturity. The basic philosophy of the program is to develop a passion for the game through skill development and sportsmanship. Games are non-result oriented with a focus on having fun (kids first).
The season generally runs six weeks, with games played on Saturday mornings. Practices typically are held one evening each week.
The club offers a TOPS soccer program which is an adaptive program for children with special needs.
About the HOOSICK FALLS TRAVEL SOCCER PROGRAM
The HFSC particiipates in the Capital District Youth Soccer League during the spring season. This league is substantially larger and more competitive than the SWVTYSL, with players ranging in age from 10 to 19. Teams are organized by age, with the cutoff being the age of the child on July 31 of the year of play. eg a U10 player cannot be 11 years or older by the upcoming 31st of July. Most teams are even numbered years; eg U10, U12, U14, etc.. Teams are placed in divisions of similar competitive levels. Games are scheduled one to two times per week, with the season running from the end of April to the end of June. Each team is scheduled to play a total of twelve games.
Spring travel involves a heavier schedule than the fall season. Most teams practice/play three to four times per week. Most games are played with a travel distance of 15 to 50 miles.
Travel Teams will be entered into the League based on registrations. No team will be entered without a Volunteer Coach.
Volunteer Coaches will be expected to support the philosophies and policies of the Hoosick Falls Soccer Club.
