Recreational-Plus (Rec-Plus) Soccer

Program Objectives: This level of soccer combines a recreational philosophy with limited travel. There are no tryouts and no players are cut. Players rotate field positions and each player present plays at least 50% of the game except for reasons of illness or injury. The program teaches basic soccer concepts and skills, developing self-confidence, and emphasizes fair play, healthy competition, and fun.
Schedule: Each team must have at least one volunteer coach. Volunteer coaches are essential to the operation of this program. Coach training will be provided. Teams are single-gender and usually practice on weekday evenings. Games are generally on weekends from approximately May 15th through July 10th. Games are played in Mankato and outside of Mankato in other communities including Lake Crystal, New Ulm, St. Peter, and Waseca. Travel is an integral part of the Rec-Plus experience. Before registering, please consider carefully your commitment to this aspect of the program!
Riverbend Soccerfest:
All U9/U10 Rec-Plus teams will be registered free of charge for the Mankato United Riverbend Soccerfest. This one-day tournament is Saturday, June 12, at Land of Memories Soccer Complex. All teams play three games that day. Additional information will be provided to all teams at a later date.
Uniforms/Equipment: Required equipment includes MUSC uniform, which includes a white jersey, a green jersey, shorts, & stockings (available for purchase at Scheels All Sports), shin guards, and soccer or athletic shoes. Recommended equipment includes a water bottle and size 4 soccer ball.
Summer 2010 Competitive U13 - U19
Program: Mankato United Soccer Club (MUSC) participates in competitive leagues organized by the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). MYSA offers spring-summer leagues for players Under 13 through Under 19. The competitive program focuses on individual and team excellence, and provides opportunities for players to learn advanced soccer concepts and skills as well as teamwork, self-discipline, honesty, generosity, and self-confidence. Players must be willing to sacrifice and work together for the good of their team, and accept that they may receive unequal amounts of playing time based on their differing abilities to contribute to team needs.
Cost: Registration fee is $200.00 per player. An EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT of $30.00 per player for all registrations made on or before August 16, 2009. After August 16, 2009, the full fee of $200 is required.
Coaches: Each team must have at least one volunteer coach.

Rec Plus players moving to traveling may use their current Rec plus jerseys but must have a number printed on them at B-Stark.

All teams require a parent-volunteer coach! Coach training will be provided.

*Good sportsmanship and develop self-confidence
*No tryouts and no players are cut
*All registered and paid players will be on a team.

*Fridays and Sundays with practice and games from 5:30 to 6:30 and 6:30 to 7:30 PM
*Each game night there will be both a practice session and a game.

*U5/U6 play 3v3 without a goalie.

*Uniform can be purchased at Scheels All Sports in the River Hills Mall.
*Players need shin guards, athletic shoes or soccer cleats, size 3 ball, and a water bottle.
