Parents Must Create An Account and Register Their Children!!!
The North Shore Sailing Club is sponsored by the North Shore Yacht Club. High school students from Highland Park, Deerfield, and other nearby high schools are eligible to join. Club activities include a learn to sail program for beginners, a skill building program for more experienced sailors, and racing practice and competition against other high school sailing programs for qualified sailors. All we require is a sincere interest in sailing small boats and a desire to become more proficient in sailing skills. This club offers the opportunity to meet others outside your present circle of friends and even outside your own high school. Primarily the club offers an opportunity to have fun.
North Shore Yacht Club provides the boats and facilities we use. They require that all persons using their boats and equipment be a member of the yacht club. Therefore, a Junior membership fee of $100 is part of the cost of club membership. An additional $50 club fee is also charged. This helps to pay for administrative costs, insurance, and other costs of operating the club. Applicants with special circumstances may apply for financial assistance.
The instructors and coaches of the club are sailors with extensive experience. Safe boating practices are their first priority. For instance, club rules include wearing a US Coast Guard approved personal flotation vest at all times, when on the water. Instructors are on the water monitoring club member sailing, whenever boats are sailing.
There are two steps to the on-line sign up. First a parent creates an account. Next, sailing club members "register" for the fall 2011 session. Each participating child must be registered separately. Now, click on the orange box above to begin.
