Learn To Skate, Spring I 2010
This is a course designed to teach the basic skills of ice skating that can be used for recreational skating, or a foundation for future hockey or figure skaters, or an alternative year-round exercise program that is really fun! Open to ages 3 and up. Skaters are encouraged to wear a helmet (bike and ski helmets are fine), snow pants, warm gloves/mittens.
This program consists of 7 one hour, weekly sessions. Each session consists of 1/2 hour group lesson and 1/2 hour free skating. Please note: All skaters should stop at the lobby table when they arrive the first day to obtain their lesson time(ie, first 1/2 hour or second 1/2 hour of their session).
SESSION DATES, TIMES, and LOCATION:
Monday, March 8 - April 19, 5:50-6:50pm

Saturday, March 13 - May 1, 12:50 -1:50* or 1:20 to 2:20*. Please note there will be no class on 3/20/2010.
* As a tentative split, skaters age 3 to 7 will skate 12:50-1:50 and all others will skate 1:20-2:20.
All sessions are held at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility, 5 Tower Road, Glenville, NY.
COST: $99. A $15 late fee will be applied for registrations after 03/06/2010

Mite Clinic Spring 2010
Take your hockey skills to the next level and join our Mite Hockey Clinic. This course is designed for the young player with at least one year of experience at the mite level or recommendation by Coach Peretti. Will focus on head-up stick handling, passing, shooting; turns, pivots, and agility; backward crossovers; positioning and puck movement.
All participants must be registered with USA Hockey for the 2009-2010 season. All SYHA members must be in good standing to register.
SESSION DATES AND TIMES:
March 28 - May 16 (no clinic on Easter Sunday, 4/4 or Mother's Day, 5/9)
COST: $50.00 for six sessions. A $15 late fee will be applied to all registrations after 3/21.

Recreational Ice Hockey ages 7-11 Spring 2010
Designed as an introduction for the older boy or girl who can already skate, but has had no formal experience or instruction. Full gear is required, however a limited supply of loaner equipment is available. Sizes are limited. You must provide your own skates, stick, and sport jock.
Program will include all of the fundamental skills of hockey: skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting. Each session will end with a small area game.
A great chance to give a great sport a try! Class size is limited.

Figure Skating for Beginners, Spring 2010
BRAND NEW! This course will provide instruction on the basics of figure skating, including: mastering and strengthening skating fundamentals, basic single jumps, one-foot spinning, possibly including scratch spin, sit spin, change-foot spin; beginning footwork sequences, accent moves such as spirals, arabesques, spread eagles, ina bauers and lunges; introduction to "moves in the field".
PRE-REQUISITE ABILITIES: Students must be able to do forward crossovers and skate backward at a moderate speed or have director's approval. Class size will be limited.
SESSION DATES, TIMES, and LOCATIONS: Program consists of 6 sessions to be held on Sunday mornings, March 28 - May 16th, from 12:20-1:20 pm (no class on 4/4 or 5/9)
All sessions will be held at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility, 5 Tower Road, Glenville, NY.
COST: $120. A $15 late feel will be charged after 3/21/10.

Mini-Mite Hockey Spring 2010
A class designed for fun at a price that can't be beat! The class will meet once per week and will combine skating and stick-handling drills with cross-ice and small area games. Open to all skaters who are able to skate unassisted, including the participants of SYHA's 2009-10 Learn to Skate for Hockey and Mini Mite programs. Required gear: helmet with face cage, elbow pads, gloves, shin guard, pants, chest protector, skates, and stick.

COST: $85.00 A $15 late fee will be applied to all registrations after 3/21/10. Add $30.00 if a reversible garnet/white jersey is needed.
