Dear Parents, Coaches and SYSO Basketball Players, we hope you all had an enjoyable summer. Welcome to SYSA Boys Basketball for the 2008- 2009 season. We are extremely excited about the upcoming year. Our program continues to grow and develop with over 300 players who participated last year. We are expecting an even larger number of registrations for this season.
Our SYSO Boy’s Basketball Program’s philosophy for the upcoming season continues to be to provide a fun, worthwhile basketball experience for our children. Specifically, we encourage our young players to develop an appreciation and understanding for the game of basketball in a fun, and competitive learning environment.
Our core belief is to stress the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork. We expect all of our players, coaches, parents and officials to conduct themselves properly at all times in a respectful manner. SYSO Boys Basketball places an emphasis on teaching our young players to gain a healthy respect for opponents, coaches and officials. Behavior outside the beliefs of SYSO Boys Basketball will not be tolerated. Simply stated, we as parents must set a good example for our children.
Please understand that only in cases of extenuating car pooling circumstances will SYSO Boy’s Basketball entertain parent requests for specific team placement. SYSO Basketball will be providing basketball coaches clinics to our coaches during the pre-season. All coaches are encouraged to attend.
Lastly, our program will only be as good as the parent volunteers that make up our coaching and administrative staffs. We are all parents in the community and lead hectic lives. The amount of time and energy needed to provide a positive basketball experience for our young people in our community is enormous and must be shared by all. SYSO policy states that if there is an insufficient number of volunteer coaches and administrators for a particular league, that league will not play for the 2008/9 season. Please don’t sit back. Volunteer your time and energy and become a part of your Childs basketball experience.
Thanks for your commitment to our young people. Looking forward to seeing you all out on the “Hardwood”.
Let’s have a great year!
