Welcome to SYSA (Somers Youth Sports Association): SYSA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, organizing and administering youth sports programs for the children of Somers. SYSA operates in conjunction with the Somers Department of Parks & Recreation and is governed by an Executive Board. If you are interested in learning more about the ways you can help, please contact the Commissioner. The philosophy of SYSA is to encourage a healthy level of competition while stressing safety and participation for all, regardless of skill or ability. The new on-line registration system will end having to register in person or by mail. When you complete the information requested by this system, you will still be required to register each season, but you will only have to update changed information about your child and your family. Once your child is registered through this system, we will be able to email you all of the latest information and events with our program. Dear Parents, Coaches and SYSA Football Players: Welcome to SYSA Boys Football for the Fall 2008 season. We are extremely excited about the upcoming season. Our program has experienced tremendous growth over the past several years with over 200 players participating last year. We are expecting an even larger number of registrations for this season. Our program was developed to provide young athletes with the opportunity to gain an appreciation and understanding of the game of football in a fun and competitive learning environment. Our goal is to help all players improve their football skills, no matter what their ability level, through dedicated coaching and healthy competition. Our focus is on blocking and tackling skills, offensive and defensive drills and playing a challenging game schedule. Younger players learn the fundamentals of the game, while older players experience more advanced skill work.
We stress the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork. We expect all of our players, coaches and parents to conduct themselves properly at all times. The SYSA Boys Football Program places an emphasis on teaching our young athletes to respect their teammates, coaches, opponents and officials. These values must be followed ad encouraged by all involved.
