SYSO Girls Lacrosse 2012

Regular registration ends on January 31st, 2012. If space is still available, late registration will continue through February 29th, 2012 ($20 late fee applies).

Our spring 2012 league will consist of the following divisions:

1st & 2nd Grade Clinic- Fee: $50
Practice/play Sundays only. Late morning or early afternoon.

3rd & 4th Grade - Fee: $100
Games and practices will be held 2-3 times per week. Days/times TBD.

5th & 6th Grade - Fee: $125
Games and practices will be held 3 times per week. Days/times TBD

7th & 8th Grade- Fee: $150. Games and practices will be held 3-4 times per week. Days/times TBD

Practices and home games for all divisions will take place at Somers High school; days to be determined, but will include evenings (6:00-7:30) & weekends.

PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED BY CREDIT CARD ONLY

By selecting "I have read the agreement and I agree" on the registration page constitutes an electronic acceptance which is the equivalent of an original signature.

Refunds, if provided, must be handled by SYSO directly and would be issued by check only. Rufunds must be approved by the Sport Commissioner. There is a significant cost involved in both league and administrative fees. Additionally, a great deal of work goes into establishing balanced teams and cancellation is extremely disruptive to the program. Only refunds due to illness or accident will be considered after the season begins. In this event, a refund must be accompanied by a doctor's note. No refund will be made once a program is half over. A $20.00 administration fee will be deducted from any refund.

All players must provide their own lacrosse stick, eye protection, mouth guard and cleats

SYSO GIRLS LACROSSE PROGRAM

Welcome to SYSO (Somers Youth Sports Organization):

SYSO is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, organizing and administering youth sports programs for the children of Somers. The philosophy of SYSO is to encourage a healthy level of competition while stressing safety and participation for all, regardless of skill or ability. Dear Parents, Coaches and SYSO lacrosse Players:

Welcome to SYSO Girls Lacrosse for the Spring 2012 season. The season is projected to run from March 27th through June 17th. We are extremely excited about the upcoming season. Our program has experienced tremendous growth other the past several years and we are expecting an even larger number of registrations for this season.

Lacrosse has a long and historical place in sports. For those unfamiliar with the sport, lacrosse incorporates skill from a number of sports our children already enjoy: the throwing motion of baseball; running and field positions of soccer; defensive strategy of basketball; and stick handling and speed of hockey.

Our program was developed to provide young athletes with the opportunity to gain an appreciation and understanding of the game of lacrosse in a fun and competitive learning environment. Our goal is to help all players improve their lacrosse skills, no matter what their ability level, through dedicated coaching and healthy competition. Our focus is on stick skills, offensive and defensive drills, and several games and tournaments. New players learn the fundamentals of the game, while more experienced players continue to advance their skills.

We stress the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork. We expect all of our players, coaches and parents to conduct themselves properly at all times. The SYSO Girls Lacrosse Program places an emphasis on teaching our young athletes to respect their teammates, coaches, opponents and officials. These values must be followed and encouraged by all involved.

- In order to maximize the competitiveness of each team in our program, balancing teams will be the top priority considered in creating teams. Please do not request placement with specific friends or coaches unless there is a critical need. In such a case, please contact commissioner directly.

- Volunteers are critically needed, especially for younger ages. It is a lot of fun, and NO experience is necessary. Please consider volunteering. Without enough coaches we run the risk of being unable to fulfill the needs of some programs.

- The basic skills needed for lacrosse are challenging and require significant practice and commitment. Please note the number of days for each division:

Grades 1-2 (clinic) Sundays only, late morning or early afternoon.

Grades 3-4: 2 to 3 times per week.

Grades 5-6: 3 times per week.

Grades 7-8: 3-4 times per week.

Days and times TBD (but may include weeknights 6pm to 7:30 pm and weekends).

- Please register as soon as possible so that we will be able to decide on number of teams required. Our scheduling meeting is in late January and it is important to know how many teams we will have in order schedule enough games with opponents in our league.
