WYSL New Coach & Team Manager Orientation Courses- Sept 2010
The WYSL offers a mandatory Orientation Course for all new coaches and team managers who wish to receive a WYSL coaching pass. To obtain a permanent pass, all new coaches and managers must attend: 1) the two hour Orientation Course, and 2) the eight hour Coach Certification Course which will be held in the winter, or hold an equivalent soccer coach license (USYSA F License, NSCAA Regional Diploma, AYSO U-12, etc). All coaches must also register for a background check by completing the on-line application in the Risk Management section of the WYSL website. The two hour course is being offered on several dates, and all new coaches and team managers are expected to attend one of these sessions:
1) Saturday 9/11 2:45 - 4:45 PM - Bronxville
Bronxville Public Library-Yeager Community Room
From White Plains Post Road (Route 22) turn west on Pondfield Rd.
Stay on Pondfield for ½ mile and Library is at the 3rd traffic light
(Midland Ave). Take right at 3rd light and park in back of Library or in
Bronxville High School parking lot across street
2) Monday 9/13 7:30 - 9:30 PM - Manhattan
Manhattan- Greek Church, 621 West End Ave, SW corner of West End Ave and 91st Street
Take the Henry Hudson Parkway south to the West Side Highway. Stay in left lane and get off at 95th Street Exit. Follow 95th Street to West End Ave and turn right. The Greek Church will be on the right at the corner of 91st. Parking is tough in this neighborhood, the nearest garage is on 89th Street between West End and Broadway.
3) Wednesday 9/15 7:30 - 9:30 PM - Scarsdale
Scarsdale- Popham Road Firehouse, Corner White Plains Post Rd (Route 22) and Popham Rd.
North or south on White Plains Post Rd (Route 22) and turn west onto
Popham Rd between BP gas station and Firehouse.
Go 50 yards and turn right into parking lot behind Scarsdale Village Hall.
Walk around to front of firehouse, enter the door on your left as you face the firehouse.
The meeting room is up the stairs.
4) Monday 9/20 7:30 - 9:30 PM - Pleasantville
Pleasantville - Rosenthal JCC. 600 Bear Ridge Road
From Armonk / Chappaqua: Take Route 120, turn west on Bear Ridge Road.
From south: Saw Mill River Parkway north to Exit 27, right onto Marble Ave.
Then left onto Broadway (Route 141). Go ½ mile, right onto Lake Street.
After ¾ mile slight right onto Bear Ridge Road.
5) Wednesday 9/22 7:30 -9:30 PM - Rye
Rye Recreation Center. Midland Road, Rye
Take I-95 to Exit 19, Playland Parkway. Straight on Playland Parkway to 2nd traffic light
and turn left onto Midland Ave. Go through one traffic light, Rye Recreation Center is on the left after 1/4 mile. The meeting is in the Damiano Building, new Multipurpose Room downstairs.
6) Saturday 9/25 8:00 - 10:00 AM - Tarrytown
On-Track Indoor Sports Center, 29 South Depot Plaza, Tarrytown
Take Route 9 (Broadway) into Tarrytown. When you get to the Washington
Irving School turn west onto West Franklin Street. Go 2/10 mile downhill and turn left onto White Street. Turn left onto South Depot Plaza. On Track is the blue warehouse just south of the Tarrytown train station. Park along side of the building or in the north lot. The entrance is up the stairs under the red awning.
There is no fee to attend these sessions. New club presidents and registrars are also welcome. These courses will be conducted by WYSL Board Members who will cover the following: team and player registration, player and coaches passes, transfer players, code of conduct, game procedures, rain-outs and field pulls, make-up games, referees, the WYSL Sportsmanship Program, Silent Sundays, Red Cards, Protests and Appeals, tournaments, the league website and more.
